I chose this picture because I felt as though the subject matter was the most meaningful.  I liked the way the photographer chose to shoot the picture, using the arms of both subjects as leading lines to guide your eye to the center of the picture.  The woman holds the man’s arm (I’m assuming it’s her husband) and draws attention towards the ring on her finger.  The black and white effect ties the gray hues in the picture together.

             I also admired the importance of the lighting in this picture. A shadow is cast over approximately half the picture, creating balance between the left side and the right side.  I think there is significance portrayed by the shadow cast over the man’s face because it matches his down turned expression.  On the other hand, the light cast on the left side of the picture is matched by the woman’s more upturned expression.  I think it symbolizes the relationship between the man and woman, possibly hinting at the overbearing presence of the man.
